Digital Economy Council (DEC)

The Digital Economy Council (DEC) takes over the roles of the Brunei Darussalam National IT Council (BIT Council) and the e-Government Leadership Forum (EGLF) in providing the direction and steer on digital economy initiatives for Brunei Darussalam.

In reference to the Circular from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) 9/2020 with the reference (9) JPM/SK/2020 dated 27 Safar 1442 / 15 October 2020, as of 10th August 2020, the members of the Chief Information Officers (CIO) forum are as follows:

Digital Economy Masterplan 2025

The Digital Economy Council launched the Digital Economy Masterplan 2025 in June 2020. Through the Digital Economy Masterplan 2025, the direction and main focus are aligned with the aspiration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, for Brunei Darussalam to become a Smart Nation.

The Digital Economy Masterplan 2025 is intended to support the goals of Wawasan Brunei 2035 with the following strategic outcomes:

i. A digital and future ready society
ii. A vibrant and sustainable economy
iii. A digitally conducive ecosystem
