Health & Welfare Initiatives

The Government of Brunei Darussalam is continuously undertaking and implementing significant approaches to improve citizens’ overall well-being and quality of life by enhancing the quality of services in health care and welfare assistance.

To align with and fully support the Wawasan Brunei 2035 specifically in achieving the goal of enhancing the quality of lives of the citizens, the Health System and Infrastructure Master Plan for Brunei Darussalam has been introduced by the Ministry of Health, which is a comprehensive plan that acts as a guide to implement strategic moves for improving Brunei’s health care services in the 21st century.  The use of ICT in health care system is also implemented such as adopting the policy to mandate the use of Electronic Patient Record System (Bru-HIMS) in all health care centres in Brunei Darussalam.

As for welfare, assistance continued to be given to certain groups of the community including the underprivileged, old age and disabled persons through the Department of Community Development of Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Besides the government, NGOs including Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA), Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), voluntary organizations, banking institutions and others are also actively giving their contributions for community development activities and to those in need of assistance.
