Application of Permit to Import Timber Products


This service is provided by Forestry Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism for applicant who wish to obtain permission to import Timber Products.

This service is available both Offline and Online

Start

General Prerequisite/ Criteria

  • This application is reserved to an authorised company or individuals who wish to bring in forest products from other countries
Online Prerequisite/ Criteria

  • For registration through the Online System Brunei Darussalam National Single Window (BDNSW), applicant is recommended to visit the Royal Customs and Excise Department. Address is as follows :

Fees

  • Each application is subject to a service fee for one shipment via the Muara port and via Land Delivery while via the Airport is Free of Charge
  • Period of authorization is for one month after approval
    • By Sea at BND$40 per Consignment (Muara Port)
    • By Land at BND$20 per Consignment (Kuala Lurah, Sungai Tujuh, Temburong (Labu)
    • By Air is Free of Charge

How to use the Service

Offline Procedure

  • Application for the export permit of timber to be submitted at the counter during government working hours as follows :
    • Monday - Thursday
      • 8 Am until 11.45 Am (Morning)
      • 1.45Pm until 3 Pm (Afternoon)
    • Saturday
      • 8 Am until 10 Am (Morning Only)
  • Import Permit is only permissible for one (1) consignment
  • Import Permit is valid for one (1) month from the date of issuance
  • Applicants are required to submit copies of the following documents according to product categories :
    • Auto-Approved Product (Direct Approval)  : [Plywood, Laminated Flooring, Medium Density Fiverboard, High Density Fiberboard, Particalboard, Door Frames, Window Frames, Solid Timber Flooring, BlockBoard Oriented Strain Board, Moulding, Carving, Wood Furniture Frames, Wood Furniture, Wood Pallet, Wood Chips, Fiverwood and Sawdust]
      • Copy of the receipt of the pre-paid Import Permit
      • Copy of Invoice (Description of Product Volume/Amount/Price Values)
      • Photo or pictures of the Product(s)
    • List 'A' Products [Sawntimber, Sawlog & Poles]
      • Copy of the receipt of the pre-paid Import Permit
      • Copy of Certificate of Origin/Forest Removal Pass
      • Copy of Certificate of Legality/Letter from Forestry Department/Recognised Authority of Exporting Country
      • Copy of Certificate of Phytosanitary/Invoice of Fumigation
      • Copy of Physical Inspection Verification Report from Downstream Industry Unit
      • Copy of Invoice (Description of Products Volume/Amount/Price Values)
      • Photo or pictures of the Imported Product(s).
    • List 'B' Products [Other Wooden/Timber Products]
      • Copy of the receipt of the pre-paid Import Permit
      • Copy of Invoice (Description of Products Volume/Amount/Price Values)
      • Photo or pictures of the Imported Product(s).
    • List 'C' Products [Timber Products in the CITES (Convention on Trade of Endangered Species) Listed Species]
      • Copy of the receipt of the pre-paid Import Permit
      • Copy of CITES Authority of exporting country
      • Copy of Physical Inspection Verification Report from Downstream Industry Unit
      • Copy of Invoice (Description of Products Volume/Amount/Price Values)
      • Photo or pictures of the Imported Product(s).
  • Applications will be reviewed prior to approval by the approving authority
  • Incomplete applications will be cancelled
  • Complete applications will be submitted to the approver for approval
  • Approved applications are to proceed with payment at the Finance Counter of the Forestry Department by bringing along the Printout Summary
  • If the issued Import Permit is not used and required for extension, applicants have to submit their request one (1) week before the Import Permit expires.

Online Procedure

  • Export Permit is only permissible for one (1) consignment
  • Export Permit is valid for one (1) month from the date of issuance
  • Applicants are required to upload copies of the following documents according to the product categories :
    • Auto-Approved (Direct Approval)  : [Plywood, Laminated Flooring, Medium Density Fiverboard, High Density Fiberboard, Particalboard, Door Frames, Window Frames, Solid Timber Flooring, BlockBoard Oriented Strain Board, Moulding, Carving, Wood Furniture Frames, Wood Furniture, Wood Pallet, Wood Chips, Fiverwood and Sawdust]

      • Copy of the receipt of the pre-paid Import Permit
      • Copy of Certificate of Origin/Forest Removal Pass
      • Copy of Certificate of Legality/Letter from Forestry Department/Recognised Authority of Exporting Country
      • Certificate of Phytosanitary Certificate/Invoice of Fumigation
      • Copy of Physical Inspection Verification Report from Downstream Industry Unit
      • Copy of Invoice (Description of Products Volume/Amount/Price Values) 
      • Photo or pictures of the Imported Product.
    • List 'B' Products [Other Wooden/Timber Products]
      • Copy of the receipt of the pre-paid Import Permit
      • Copy of Invoice (Description of Products Volume/Amount/Price Values)
      • Photo or pictures of the Imported Product.
    • List 'C' Products [Timber Products in the CITES (Convention on Trade of Endangered Species) Listed Species]
      • Copy of the receipt of the pre-paid Import Permit
      • Copy of CITES Permit from Brunei CITES Authority
      • Copy of Physical Inspection Verification Report from Downstream Industry Unit (DIU)
      • Copy of Invoice (Description of Products Volume/AMount/Price Values)
      • Photo or pictures of the Imported Product.
  • Applications will be reviewed (by Verifier) prior to approval by the approving authority (Approver).
  • Incomplete application will be cancelled.
  • Complete applications will be submitted to the Approver for approval.
  • Approved applications are to proceed with payment at The Finance Counter of the Forestry Department by bringing along the Printout Summary
  • If the issued Import Permit is not yet used and required for extension, applicants must submit their request one (1) week before the Import Permit expires.
